What started as an idea in the heart of one person has grown into a ministry that has touched the lives of thousands in Longview, Texas. The volunteers with the Haverty’s/Newgate Christmas Bag have a simple mission of bringing the joy of Christmas into the hearts of children by fulfilling Christmas wishes for low-income families. Each year, approximately 400 children benefit from the efforts of volunteers, businesses, church and civic organizations, and generous community supporters. Together, they bring hope and happiness into the lives of children served by the Haverty’s/Newgate Christmas Bag.
